POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The editor is the filter through which content passes before it gets on the air and as such is a specialist in monitoring events, prioritizing coverage responsibilities, organizing the mechanics of coverage, and developing and writing content. The Editor must manage day to day content and respond to breaking news situations and coordinate decisive responses using all necessary staff. Editors must cooperate fully as an active team member of Bonneville Seattle's news, programming, digital and promotion personnel.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong writing skills
• Strong interviewing, editing and production skills
• Ability and desire to enterprise new content daily and solve problems as they arise
• Ability to quickly conceptualize stories for audio presentation
• Self-starter with ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines, including breaking news coverage
• Proactive delegation skills
• Work effectively in a team environment
• Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients
• Consistently work hours required to meet deadlines, including odd shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, overtime, etc
• Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• College level education in journalism or related field or equivalent experience
• At least two years of commercial broadcasting experience or equivalent in radio/television news
